Editorial policy
The standards we hold ourselves to when we write about health and wellness products.
Where our information comes from
We prioritize, in this order: peer-reviewed research (especially randomized trials and systematic reviews), reports from recognized scientific bodies and government health agencies, and, for product reviews, the manufacturer's own official page. Claims made by a manufacturer are presented as claims, not as facts.
How we describe evidence
- We say what kind of study was done, how many people took part and who they were.
- We clearly separate human studies from animal and laboratory research.
- We separate findings about one ingredient from proof that a finished product works.
- We say when evidence is limited, mixed or contested, and we mention criticism of a study when it exists.
Reviews and money
Some of our reviews contain affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you buy through them. We do not let a commission decide what the facts are: every review states evidence gaps and safety notes. See our affiliate disclosure. The site also earns revenue from advertising, which we keep visually separate from articles and label as advertising.
Medical review
Our articles are written by the Smart Living Spot editorial team and are for general information. They have not had a clinician's medical review unless an article states otherwise. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Corrections and updates
If you find an error, tell us. When we confirm a mistake we correct the article and note the change. We review our articles when important new research appears and update the date when we do.
